Aquatic Safety Assistant Program This
course presents the knowledge and skills needed to both help prevent and recognize
aquatic risks, and to assist a lifeguard in the emergency response to an accident
or injury. Prerequisites include CPR/AED pro, Emergency Oxygen, and First Aid.
Those who enroll and complete the lifeguard preparation course may be eligible
to receive this training along with prerequisites at no charge. Other
requirements:
- Must
be 14 years by the last day of class
- Swim
100 yards any stroke
- Tread
water for two minutes using legs only
- Surface
dive head first and feet first 4 - 6 feet
YMCA
ON THE GUARD II Lifeguard Training Program This
course presents the knowledge and skills needed to be a lifeguard at a pool, waterfront,
or waterpark. Prerequisites include CPR/AED pro, Emergency Oxygen, and First Aid.
Those who enroll and complete the lifeguard preparation course may be eligible
to receive this training along with prerequisites at no charge.Other
requirements:
- Must
be16 years by the last day of class
- Swim
200 continuous yards using the following: 100 yards of front crawl, 100 yards
of breaststroke, 100 yards of sidestroke, 100 yards of lifesaving stroke, 100
yards of inverted breaststroke kick
- Tread
water for 2 minutes using legs only
- Surface
dive and swim 15 feet under water.
CPR/AED
AND FIRST AID TRAINING CPR/AED and First Aid training for the community
and for the professional rescuer are offered monthly. Please contact the welcome
center for the next available class ... schedules. CPR
and First Aid challenge courses to renew your certifications are available monthly.
You may take the challenge at any time, even if your certification has expired.
If you are unable to complete the challenge, you must take the entire course again. |
